Course Descriptions
NTSA Director Scott Caylor starts each class by giving a test, which is timed and recorded so that he can evaluate the students and pinpoint their individual needs. The same test is repeated at the end of the class, so that dramatic before-and-after comparisons can be made.

Basic Pistol
- One day course; 900 - 1000 rounds.
Here the focus is on practical shooting techniques and the first five fundamentals of shooting. This intense training course not only helps develop the students' accuracy, but will also dramatically increase their speed while building self-confidence and muscle memory.
Scott personally demonstrates and teaches each student the proper and most efficient way to shoot a handgun. In the first part of this class, he will cover basic firearms safety, how to grip a gun properly, preferred shooting platform, trigger control, and single and multiple target acquisition and engagement.
After mastering those skills and firing from the ready-gun position, the class will proceed to proper holster technique for a fast, smooth, and efficient draw. Next, speed, tactical, and slide-lock reloads will be covered.
The remainder of the class will be devoted to intensive drills designed to integrate all of these skills into a safe, cohesive, high-performance skill-set.
This is one of the most challenging and rewarding classes being taught today; Whether you are new to shooting, or have been doing it your whole life, completion of this class is guaranteed to reward you with measurable improvement.

Intermediate Pistol - One day course; 600 - 700 rounds.
While continuing to build on and reinforce the practical shooting techniques from the Basic course, the emphasis in this class shifts towards movement and obstacle work. Scott teaches how to use fluid motion when moving and shooting in all directions while maintaining speed and accuracy. He uses a unique approach of breaking down each component in every movement and demonstrating how to smoothly execute each one. Various obstacles such as barricades and barrels are used to assist in teaching how to position the body and to maximize speed and accuracy by minimizing unnecessary movement. A student commented that this is one of the most physically demanding but rewarding courses he'd ever taken and that it can be described as a "blood-pumper".

Advanced Pistol - One day course; 300 rds.
To the same degree that the Intermediate course is physically demanding, this course is mentally demanding. Scott teaches you all about the mental aspects of shooting and how to keep emotions in check, putting the "finishing touch" on the competitive or more serious shooter. Refine your acquired skills and learn to keep the advantage on your side under any circumstance through mental exercise and control. An evaluation - and a personal training program - are also offered for those interested in continuing their learning experience.
